Wordgrid
Add a letter each turn and spell a new word through it; longer words score more. When the grid fills the higher score takes the pot, and a level score goes to the second player.
The rules in brief
- Only the middle row is filled, with the seed word SHEEP, the same seed in every game, so nobody gets a luckier start than anybody else.
- First, write one letter into an empty square that touches a filled square: up, down, left or right, never diagonally. Second, trace a word through touching squares that uses your new letter.
- Every word you play scores its length: a four letter word is four points.
- Once a word has been played in a game it is spent, for both players, and that includes SHEEP itself, which is why the seed is worth nothing.
- A level score goes to the second player.
How stakes and the fee work
You choose. The smallest allowed stake is 1 USDC and the largest is 10 000 USDC. Both players put up the same amount, and both stakes are held until the match settles.
Nothing to sit down. On a settled match we take 10% of the pot and the winner receives 90%. A draw returns each player their own stake in full and we take nothing at all.
Each player has 10 minutes for the whole of a lobby match. Tournament fixtures run on their own clock, currently 5 minutes a side. A clock that reaches zero loses on time.
