Questions

27 answers, and every figure in them is real.

Money first, because that is what people ask about before they play. Nothing here is a promise we have not built: each answer states what the product does, and the numbers are read from the settlement code and live configuration.

Money

What a game costs, and how it leaves again.

What does it cost to play?

Nothing to sit down. On a settled match we take 10% of the pot and the winner receives 90%. A draw returns each player their own stake in full and we take nothing at all.

How much can I stake?

You choose. The smallest allowed stake is 1 USDC and the largest is 10 000 USDC. Both players put up the same amount, and both stakes are held until the match settles.

How do I put money in?

USDC on the Polygon network, sent to the address shown on the deposit page, credited once the network confirms it. Sending a different token, or using a different network, does not credit a balance.

How do I take money out, and what does that cost?

Send your balance to any Polygon address you like. The fee is 1% of what you withdraw, the same for everyone, and you see the amount, the fee and what actually lands before you confirm.

Is there a minimum withdrawal?

There is a floor on what a withdrawal must leave you with: after the fee, you must receive at least 2 USDC. Because the fee is a percentage, a small withdrawal is charged in proportion rather than swallowed by a flat cost.

Why is my withdrawal held for review?

Above an internal limit, a withdrawal is not sent until it has been reviewed. That is a deliberate control, not a fault. It is the same control that stops a compromised account emptying itself unnoticed.

What happens to my stake if nobody accepts my challenge?

It is held from the moment you create the challenge, for up to 24 hours. After that the challenge expires and the stake is released back to your balance. Cancel earlier and it comes back at once.

The games

What you can play, and the rules that decide a wagered game.

What can I play?

chess, draughts (8×8), checkers (standard), othello, gomoku, xiangqi, oware (ayò), hex, dots and boxes and wordgrid, 10 games. Every one can be played against a person for money, and every one is also free to practise.

Draughts and checkers look identical. What is the difference?

The board is the same; the rulebook is not, and the difference decides money. Draughts: flying kings, capture in any direction, and you must take the longest capture. Checkers: kings move one square, men capture forward only, and any capture is allowed. The rule line is shown wherever you pick a game, before you stake anything on it.

How long does a game take?

Each player has 10 minutes for the whole of a lobby match. Tournament fixtures run on their own clock, currently 5 minutes a side. A clock that reaches zero loses on time.

What happens if my clock runs out?

You lose on time, and the match settles exactly as it would have on the board. There is nothing to claim: a dead clock is resolved the next time either player opens the game, so an opponent who walks away cannot leave you holding an unfinished match.

Can I play one particular friend?

Make the challenge private and you get a code of 8 characters to send. A private challenge is kept out of the lobby entirely, and the link skips the 10-second pause a public challenge sits under, so a friend can accept the moment they open it. The creator moves first, as in every challenge.

Tournaments

One entry, one evening, three winners.

How does a tournament evening run?

Your entry fee is taken at registration and goes into the pool. Groups are threes and fours. Your first group game starts at the start time; each later group game starts once you and your next opponent have both finished, and never sooner than 1 minutes after the round before. Knockout rounds start 1 minutes after the previous round is decided, whenever that is. The top two of each group go through. A small tournament runs as a single group and sends four. And every tournament game is 5 minutes a side.

What does a tournament pay?

The entry fees are the prize pool. First takes 60%, second 20%, third 10%, and we keep what is left. A single fixture inside a tournament moves no money of its own, because you paid at the door.

What if too few people enter?

If fewer than four players have registered by the start, the tournament is cancelled and every entry fee is refunded in full. Entries close on the dot; the cancellation follows within a few minutes. The same refund applies if we call a tournament off for any other reason, before the draw or during play.

Can I pull out after registering?

While registration is open, yes. Withdraw and the entry fee comes back in full, though you cannot then re-enter the same tournament. Once the draw is made, your fixtures are yours: a missed game is lost on its untouched clock, in the group stage and in the knockout alike. In a knockout game the better seed moves first, so if neither of you turns up, the clock runs down on the better seed and they lose it.

Can I watch other people play?

Tournament fixtures, yes, with the boards, the clocks and a room to talk in. While you are still competing in a tournament, every fixture in it is closed to you, your own included, so nobody scouts between rounds. It opens the moment you have nothing left to play. Ordinary lobby matches cannot be watched at all.

Practice

The free lane, and why it cannot reach your balance.

Can I play without staking anything?

Every game, either against a bot or against a friend you invite with a code. The clock is the same as a wagered game. No money can touch it: no stake, no rating, no XP and no leaderboard effect.

Could a practice game cost me money by accident?

No, and it is not a setting you have to trust. Practice runs on its own separate foundation, and the part of our system that moves money is not reachable from it. A practice game has nowhere to record a stake even in principle.

Your account

Signing in, and the one thing we will never ask you for.

Do I need a crypto wallet to start?

No. Use the wallet you already have, or sign in with an email code or a Google account and we set a wallet up for you. Nothing to install, and no seed phrase to write down. However you sign in, the balance belongs to the account. A second sign-in method never creates a second balance.

Will you ever ask for my seed phrase or private key?

Never, and no message from us will ever ask for one. Not in a ticket, not by email, not in any of our community accounts. Anyone who asks is not us, whatever name they are using.

Which languages does the platform speak?

8: English · Português (Brasil) · Español · Français · Tiếng Việt · 繁體中文 · 简体中文 · 日本語. A support ticket can be written in any of them, and both your words and an English reading are kept in the thread.

Does a display name prove who someone is?

No. A display name is a label a player chooses for themselves, optional, changeable, and not unique, so two people can be showing the same one. It is checked against nothing beyond a filter for look-alike characters, our own brand words and the obvious slurs. What identifies an account is the short address that sits beside every name, everywhere a name appears: on the leaderboard, in a bracket, on a share card. If a name is being used to imitate somebody, tell us through the support page and it can be removed.

Fair play

Who decides a result, and what is kept afterwards.

Who decides the result?

Our referee is the server, not your browser. An illegal move is refused and snapped back, the clock runs on the server rather than on your machine, and the board refreshes itself so a stale screen cannot cost you a game.

Is any of it luck?

No dice, no cards face down, nothing dealt. Both players see the whole position for the whole game, which is what makes a stake on it fair.

If a game looks wrong, is there anything to check?

Your moves, your clock and every payment are written down and kept, so a disputed game can be reconstructed move by move rather than argued about. Open a ticket with the game in it and there is something to examine.

Someone is being unpleasant in chat. What can I do?

Report the message, or mute them. A mute is silent and reversible: they can still type, you simply stop seeing it, and they are never told. Nobody reported is told who reported them either.

Still not answered?

A ticket lives in your account and stays in the queue until it is picked up, in any of our 8 languages. We will not tell you how fast we answer, because nothing in the product guarantees it yet.

Figures on this page are the ones the product holds: the share we take and the winner's share come from the code that settles a match, and the stake bounds, the withdrawal fee and the clocks are read from live configuration. Where a figure can be changed by an operator, this page follows it rather than restating it.
