The games

Ten classics you already know.

Ten sets of rules on the same clock. A normal match gives you ten minutes each, so a game fits into a coffee break.

Chess
Checkmate the king and the pot is yours. A stalemate or a repeated position is a draw.
Draughts
Kings fly the length of a diagonal, captures are compulsory, and you have to take the longest one on offer.
Checkers
The version most people grew up with. Kings step one square, and any capture on offer is fair game.
Othello
Place a disc, flip the ones you trap. Whoever holds more discs at the end takes the pot.
Gomoku
Five in a row on a fifteen by fifteen grid, and more than five still counts. The Swap2 opening lets the second player take either colour, so going first is no advantage.
Xiangqi
Chinese chess, played on the points of a nine by ten board. Checkmate wins, and so does leaving your opponent with no legal move at all. Checking forever loses.
Oware
Sow seeds anticlockwise round twelve houses, capturing where you land on two or three. Always leave your opponent a move. First to twenty-five seeds wins — and running out of moves does not lose here; the seeds decide.
Hex
Connect your two sides of a field of hexagons — red top to bottom, blue left to right. The second player may steal your opening move. Nobody can draw a game of Hex.
Dots and Boxes
Draw a line between two dots. Close a box and it is yours — and you draw again, so one move can run a chain. Most of the twenty-five boxes takes the pot.
Wordgrid
Add a letter each turn and spell a new word through it; longer words score more. When the grid fills the higher score takes the pot, and a level score goes to the second player.

How it works

Three steps, then you play.

You do not need a wallet before you start. You will have one by the time you finish, and it belongs to you.

01 · SIGN IN

Wallet, email or Google

Use the wallet you already have, or sign in with an email code or a Google account and we set a wallet up for you. Nothing to install, and no seed phrase to write down.

02 · PUT UP YOUR STAKE

Both players match it

Pick a game and a stake, or accept somebody else’s. Both stakes are set aside before the first move, so nobody can back out with your money halfway through.

03 · GET PAID

The winner is paid at once

When the game ends the pot lands in your balance straight away, and you can send it to your wallet whenever you want. If the game is a draw, both players get their stake back in full and we take nothing.

Ways to play

Warm up, or play for something.

Practice

Free games, no stakes
Play a bot on easy, medium or hard, or send a friend a link. Nothing is staked and nothing is charged.

The lobby

Open challenges
Post a game at the stake you fancy, or take one somebody else has posted. You see the stake and the payout before you accept.

Just you two

Private matches
Make a private game and share the link or read the code out loud. Only the person you invite can join it.

Tournaments

One entry, a prize pool
Pay one entry fee, play a group stage and then the knockouts. If a tournament is called off before it starts, every entry is refunded.

Your rating

A skill number that means something

You get a skill rating for each game, worked out with Glicko 2, the system serious chess and games sites use. Beat someone stronger and it climbs faster. While it is still settling in you will see a question mark next to it, so nobody reads too much into your first few games.

The leaderboard ranks players by XP earned across every game and shows the top hundred, with your skill rating shown beside it. Free games count towards neither, so nobody can pad their way up.

Example

ChessSkill1662
OthelloSkill1504?

A question mark means the number is still settling.

Your money

You put it in, you take it out.

Your deposit is held by us while you play, not in your wallet. It returns to your wallet whenever you withdraw.

Withdraw whenever
Send your balance to any Polygon address you like. The fee is 1% of what you withdraw. You see the amount, the fee and what actually lands before you confirm it.
No surprises
The stake and the payout are on screen before you agree to a game. Nothing is taken from your balance until you say yes.
Every game is on the record
Your moves, your clock and every payment are written down and kept. If a game ever looks wrong, there is something to check.

Three ways to sign in. Pick one.

Signing in costs nothing and moves nothing. Have a look around, play a few free games, and only stake something when you feel like it.

Connect your wallet and approve one signature. No transaction, no gas.

Play for stakes only where it is legal to do so.
